Grythyttan Stålmöbler 130 years
The Lindqvist family in the Swedish town of Grythyttan started making horseshoes in 1895. Their son Artur followed in his father Karl's footsteps but was driven by visions that went beyond traditional blacksmithing.
Artur's thinking was inspired by the ideals of the funkis movement: to create functional and beautiful objects for everyday life. For the 1930 Stockholm Exhibition, Artur designed and made the now-classic A2 chair from spring steel. The A2 chair was soon followed by a full collection of garden furniture.
During the 1940s and 1950s, Grythyttan Stålmöbler grew in popularity. Their outdoor furniture became synonymous with the Swedish summer and holidays. Many Swedes have rocked in an A2 in their grandparents' garden. History is ever-present in everything Grythyttan does, and the company has become a significant part of Swedish furniture history.
Grythyttan’s slogan is: “When you buy Grythyttan’s summer furniture, your furniture question is solved for many years to come.
